The June 2026 edition highlights progress on two infrastructure projects (the BarMar public consultation and the HYnframed ongoing consultation); a partnership to conduct pyrogasification trials; environmental certifications for our sites and eco-design initiatives; and the promotional spot for the "Métier" (Our Business) communication campaign launched in May 2026.

The BarMar company—a partnership between NaTran, Teréga, and Enagás (Spain)—has launched the preliminary consultation process for its subsea pipeline project under the auspices of the National Public Debate Commission (CNDP).

Spanning 400 km between Barcelona and Fos-sur-Mer, this infrastructure will transport two million tonnes of renewable hydrogen annually and serve as a key link in the European H2med corridor, designed to decarbonize industry and strengthen the energy sovereignty of both France and the European Union.

Until July 12, the public is invited to learn about the project and participate in discussions across 25 events—ranging from public meetings to site visits—overseen by three independent facilitators. Opinions and questions may be submitted via a dedicated digital register. For NaTran, this milestone marks the realization of cross-border cooperation dedicated to the energy transition.

How can waste that cannot be recycled be valorized? NaTran, Syctom (the public agency responsible for household waste treatment across 82 municipalities in the Île-de-France region), and the eco-organizations Citeo and Ecomaison have formed a partnership to conduct trials of pyrogasification. This thermochemical process heats solid waste to very high temperatures without burning it, thereby limiting CO2 emissions compared to incineration. The project aims to analyze the technical conditions required to integrate these waste streams into existing networks.

NaTran is continuing consultations with local stakeholders regarding its hydrogen projects in southern France. Spanning nearly 150 km, the HYnframed project will link Fos-sur-Mer to storage facilities in the Manosque area, thereby securing the supply for industrial players. Basic engineering studies—co-funded by the basin's industrial companies, ADEME, and the Sud Region—were completed in late 2025. Commissioning is targeted for between late 2029 and mid-2030.

"The goal is to foster biodiversity wherever possible, and to do so sustainably."

These words from our Biodiversity Officer perfectly sum up our environmental strategy—a strategy whose concrete actions are already starting to bear fruit.

How?

  • By obtaining certification for several sites thanks to the involvement of our site operators working alongside local ecology groups;
  • and also through eco-design which involves implementing concrete environmental measures right from the start of infrastructure construction projects.
    And that’s not all! Ten more sites are set to be certified in 2026, and an eco-design guide will be released soon...

This is the number of levers identified to turn industrial decarbonization into a competitive advantage. Ranging from energy audits and CO2 capture to energy efficiency, waste heat recovery, green gases, and bio-CNG, these levers are combined according to the specific circumstances of each industrial site. The stakes are high: the State aims to reduce industrial emissions by 35% by 2030 compared to 2015 levels.

How can the energy transition be given a human face, its transformation better understood, and talent attracted? NaTran has launched its first employer branding campaign since rebranding.

The campaign features actual NaTran employees in an immersive studio setting that projects the company’s activities and illustrates what it means to "work at NaTran." The campaign is running through July via a targeted digital strategy (platforms, online media, and recruitment sites).
