NaTran, 1 year of action and transformation

Monday, 2 February 2026 - Discover our new corporate film and podcast to understand where we come from and where we are going...

One year ago, our company reached a major milestone in its history by becoming NaTran. This rebranding embodies a profound transformation. To celebrate this anniversary, we are unveiling our new corporate film, which highlights our drive to achieve the energy and ecological transition. In addition, we are launching a new podcast format on the origins of the gas industry and its future prospects.

"Our goal is clear: to become the leading gas transporter contributing to the energy transition. By 2030, we are committed to increasing the share of renewable gases in our networks fivefold, developing more than
1,000 km of hydrogen and CO₂ networks in Europe, reducing our carbon footprint by 40%, and expanding the skills needed for our transformation."

Corporate film: knowing who we are and where we are going...

To address energy and climate challenges that extend far beyond our borders but deeply affect our territories, NaTran builds on solid foundations:

  • extensive experience in public service,
  • an efficient infrastructure and network,
  • collaborations and partnerships across all sectors,
  • expertise embodied by its dynamic workforce, whose efforts to transform its tools and infrastructure are already enabling the injection and transport of biomethane, and will soon enable the introduction of new molecules such as l'hydrogen and CO2

"A new era is dawning, the challenges are considerable, but our company is undergoing transformation and can draw on its history."

Philippe Madiec

Deputy Secretary-General NaTran

Podcast: ‘The new gas routes’

In this podcast, we go back in time!

From 19th-century lamplighters to the major technical innovations that led to the birth of town gas, then the rise of natural gas and the construction of the European network.

Historian Jean-Pierre Williot sheds light on this profound transformation.
He traces the industrial and societal choices that shaped the French energy landscape, while putting into perspective the challenges that led to the development of a modern, interconnected gas network.

Philippe Madiec, our Deputy Secretary General, looks back at the liberalisation of the gas market, a decisive step towards opening up competition and structuring the European energy system.
He also discusses the strategic shift that prepared the company to embrace renewable gases, then to commit to green and low-carbon hydrogen, before culminating in 2025 with the transformation of GRTgaz into NaTran.
