Temps d'échange lors de la concertation HYnframed par NaTran

NaTran launches ongoing consultation regarding HYnframed, a hydrogen transport project in the Sud-Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, under the aegis of France’s National Commission for Public Debate.

Understanding the HYnframed project and ongoing consultation

HYnframed is a hydrogen transport project by pipeline, led by NaTran in the South Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region. This project refers to the planned local network between Fos-sur-Mer, the Berre plateau and the Manosque area, over a length of approximately 180 km. It is part of the development of a local hydrogen ecosystem, which is intended to link production areas, industrial consumers and storage capacities

HYnframed was one of the various projects involved in the public debate for the "Fos-Berre-Provence" area, which ran from 2 April to 13 July 2025 under the aegis of the CNDP (National Commission for Public Debate). Following these initial discussions, another phase of dialogue with the territory is now under way, with the ongoing consultation dedicated to the HYnframed project having been launched in January 2026.

This new stage is being organised by NaTran, the project owner, still under the aegis of the CNDP. It will give residents a better understanding the project and its potential contribution to carbon-free industry, energy transition and the economic attractiveness of the territory. An initial discussion meeting was held in Manosque on September 28, organised in conjunction with other project owners involved in the development of hydrogen projects specifically in the Val de Durance area.

The HYnframed consultation continues: an opportunity for long-term dialogue

The ongoing HYnframed consultation, initiated in January 2026, provides a means of continuing the dialogue which began with all stakeholders in the region. Through various methods (public meetings, regular office hours, newsletters, etc.), it will enable the transparent sharing of the progress of the projects, their evolution and their impacts, and also the collection of questions, observations and expectations from residents, elected officials, associations and socio-economic actors concerned, up to and including the public inquiry.

Hydrogen projects in the Sud-Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region

Hydrogen projects in the territory form part of a global vision for the South region: to create a renewable and low-carbon hydrogen transport network by pipeline to link production, consumption and storage areas, in the interests of carbon-free industry. In practical terms, the objective is to connect the GéoH2 storage project (led by GéoMéthane) and the HyGreen production project (led by Engie) to the Fos industrial zone via an underground network of pipelines (HYnframed) operated by the NaTran national gas transport operator.

HYnframed aims to offer a network that delivers flexibility and secure supply to its users and meets the needs of local industry. Its route is currently being established, and will be determined with a view to minimizing impact.
