Summer gas season
Wednesday 30 April 2025
The Summer Outlook is carried out at the end of winter every year by NaTran with Teréga, checking the capacity of gas infrastructures to fill storage facilities before the start of winter, in accordance with French and European regulatory obligations.
Several consumption scenarios are modelled, taking into account the maintenance operations carried out by infrastructure operators (LNG terminals, networks, storage facilities), which usually take place between April and October, as well as the limits of the network.
The year 2025 will continue to be marked by the reversal of gas flows in Europe, from West to East, as a result of the war in Ukraine, which since 2022 has generated significant exports from France to its European neighbours.
In this context, the simulations show that it is possible to rebuild gas stores during the summer, whatever the summer consumption scenario, provided of course that the supply from Norway is sustained, as well as supplies of LNG.
The start of the storage injection campaign is going well, with a quarter of storage facilities filled in just one month.
