NaTran has just announced the strengthening of its commitment as a philanthropic partner to l’Association Les P’tits Doudous. NaTran is strengthening its environmental commitment by collecting metal scrap from its maintenance and construction sites (and increasing staff effort to do so) so that the waste can be used for renewable, low carbon gas projects, with the proceeds going to the charity Les P’tits Doudous.

Three years of initiatives driven by charity power

NaTran has been working with Les P’tits Doudous since 2022, and is extending its support for another couple of years. NaTran’s efforts to support renewable gas and low-carbon energy produced locally go hand-in-hand with its environmental actions to create value in local communities. NaTran employees at its industrial and tertiary sites all over France are involved in collecting and sorting the company’s industrial waste – things like metal leftovers and cables – so those materials can be reused or recycled instead of wasted.

Since 2022, NaTran's employees have helped recycle 926 tonnes of metal waste and 443 kg of cables through recycling channels, preventing roughly 1200 tonnes of carbon dioxide from being released into the atmosphere*.

*ADEME database: 2211 kg of CO2 for ferrous metals made from virgin raw material and 938 kg of CO2 for ferrous metals made from recycled materials.

A partnership built on shared values and benefits

Thanks to this sponsorship, NaTran’s recycling programme kills two birds with one stone: it’s part of both a waste recovery initiative and a solidarity effort, through funding Les P’tits Doudous to improve the welcome and care of children and their families in hospitals.

NaTran employees feel proud to be part in this programme because it supports a meaningful, value-driven cause.
NaTran and Les P’tits Doudous share the same belief – that even waste others ignore or mishandle can have real value if it’s properly recycled. NaTran’s NaTran2030 plan is all about cutting carbon emissions to hit net zero by 2050. To get there, they aim to pump five times more renewable and low-carbon gas into their networks by 2030.

"Les P’tits Doudous is a wonderful adventure that resonates in many ways with NaTran’s values. We understand the importance of public service missions, whether in healthcare or in energy, and we’re proud to help improve their quality. We also know that the future largely depends on how we manage to use our resources wisely, in order to stop relying on the constant extraction of natural resources. The NaTran teams are proud to dedicate their energy to this network of solidarity.”

Les P’tits Doudous – committed caregivers

The caregivers’ association Les P’tits Doudous gives cuddly toys to children who have undergone surgery to make them smile and reward them for their bravery. It supports its charitable activities by collecting and recycling hospital waste in an innovative way to generate funds. Since the recycling bins were introduced, more than 230 tonnes of waste have been collected across the 160 hospitals that are now part of the association’s network.

“NaTran is a perfect example: committed sponsors who, together with us and all their employees, help build our projects so that we can support even more children in the future. Optimising the company’s recycling has so much in common with the work of healthcare workers in hospitals – it shows that we’re all acting for the planet and for the children. That’s what positive energy is all about.” Nolwenn Febvre, President of Les P’tits Doudous
