On 7 December 2021, GRTgaz and twenty-six European companies and organisations presented the Biomethane Declaration to Kadri Simson, European Commissioner for Energy, in a lively online event.

The inauguration of the FenHYx test platform on 23 November in Alfortville (Val-de-Marne) is a key step in the conversion of the natural gas networks to hydrogen.

With the boom in biomethane, France is seeing saturation points where production is greater than local consumption. To remove this limitation linked to the network’s distribution capacity, GRTgaz has installed its first reverse flow stations.

In 2021, a working group was set up within the “New Energy Systems” Sector Strategy Committee to improve the local take-up of anaerobic digestion projects. Energy experts, regional and local authorities, Chambers of Agriculture, NGOs.. all concerned stakeholders are involved.
