Methane emissions reduced by over 25% compared to 2023

Methane emissions were reduced by over 25% compared to 2023. This reduction is essentially driven by effective leak detection campaigns, strengthened network integrity control and reduced atmospheric discharges.

In 2024, NaTran stepped up its efforts to avoid emissions during works and maintenance, particularly during smaller-scale operations such as network pigging operations. In addition, the replacement of certain equipment at compressor stations and network substations was also reflected in the 2024 results. Since 2016, NaTran’s methane emissions have fallen by over 81%, allowing the company to meet its strategic objective of dividing methane emissions by five between 2016 and 2024.
